Sufi takes oath as CIC
Jammu, Feb 28: The Governor, N. N. Vohra, administered the oath of office to Ghulam Rasool Sufi as the State Chief Information Commissioner at a function held at Raj Bhavan here this evening.
The Governor wished Sufi a most successful tenure as the State Chief Information Commissioner.
Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Muhammad Akbar Lone, Deputy Chairman, Legislative Council, Arvinder Singh, Leader of the Opposition, Mehbooba Mufti, MLC M. Y. Taing,Chief Secretary, Madhav Lal, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, B. B. Vyas, Principal Secretary to the Governor, R. K. Goyal, Commissioner/Secretary, General Administration, M. S. Khan and senior officers of the Income Tax Department were prominent among those present at the oath ceremony.
Sufi did MA (Political Science) from Aligarh Muslim University in 1975, M. Phil from Jawaharlal Nehru University in 1977 and MBA from Hull University, United Kingdom (Sponsored by the Government of India under the Colombo Plan) in 1998. Born in Srinagar on April 13, 1951, he was selected for the Indian Revenue Services in 1977. He has held various assignments in the Income Tax Department and was promoted as the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax in January 2010.
