4 held for possessing cannabis

Jammu/Srinagar, Mar 9: Four narcotics smugglers were arrested and 100 kilograms of cannabis, poppy straw was recovered from them in two incidents at Udhampur on Srinagar-Jammu highway.
 According to police, 55 kilogram of cannabis was recovered from a truck at Tikri Udhampur last evening. The driver Nirmal Singh and cleaner Arif Amin were arrested, police added.
 Police and CRPF men seized 45 kilograms of poppy straw from a bus at Kud, police said adding Muhammad Ashraf and Abdul Rashid Ganaie were arrested. PTI

2 SOLDIERS DIE
 Two soldiers died in separate incidents in Jammu division.
 According to the officials, 49-year-old CRPF head constable Parameshwar Singh, of Balya (UP) died of a heart attack.
 In another incident, Army Havildar Raj Singh died of burn injuries in Jangard Nowshera Rajouri last night, they said. PTI

CIVIL-SOCIETY MEET HELD
 Scores of people participated in the Civil-Society meet organised by the police at Dangiwacha Sopore on Wednesday.
 Superintendent of Police, Altaf Ahmad Khan and other officials were present.
 The participants raised different issues and urged their speedy redressal.
 SP, Altaf Khan reiterated the resolve to bridge the gap between police and public. He assured setting up of a youth club in the area besides promoting other co-curricular activities for the betterment and welfare of the youngsters.
