21 smugglers held under PSA in Shopian

Jammu: Twenty one forest timber smugglers have been detained under Public Safety Act in Shopian during the last two years, the Legislative Council was informed today.
“During 2009-10 and 2010-11, 21 smugglers have been detained under PSA in Shopian forest division,” Minister for Forest, Mian Altaf, said in a reply to a question of Showkat Hussain Ganai.
He said 7985 cubic feet of timber had been provided to applicants of Wachi constituency during 2009-10. Rs 11,78,503 has been realized against the 7985 cft of timber provided by the department to the applicants of the said constituency, he said.
