Srinagar, Mar 10: On the occasion of 6th World Kidney Day Celebrations, the SMHS Hospital Srinagar has got three state-of-the-art Hemodialysis machines.
Officials said the hi-tech machines include a specialized dialysis machine Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) SLED mode and claim that it is for the first time in the state that such a treatment modality is available.
The machines were installed under the supervision of Principal/Dean GMC Prof Shahida Mir and Head of Department Medicine Prof Gazanfar Ali on Thursday. The machines have been installed in the Department of Medicine (Nephrology Division) and will be operational within two weeks.
“SMHS is the only hospital in the state where critically ill patients with multi-organ failure and acute kidney injury on ventilators have been hemodialyzed over the past two years,” Dr Gazaffar said.
On the occasion, Dr Tajamul H Mir (Nephrologist) said the machines are meant for “such unstable patients with multi-organ failure dysfunction who cannot tolerate conventional Hemodialysis.”
“The machines will be operational within two weeks,” he said.
A GMC spokesman said the machines have been purchased through the money donated by the Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy from his MP Fund.
