Anganwari workers’ honorarium soon: Sakina
Jammu: Social Welfare Minister, Sakina Itoo on Friday assured the House that honorarium to 28,000 Anganwari workers and Helpers engaged under ICDS would be released shortly.
Replying to a point raised by CPI (M) legislator, M Y Tarigami, she said the Centre would release its share soon while matching State share under the scheme stands already released.
Tarigami urged the Government to release the honorarium forthwith. He said these functionaries were protesting everywhere for want of honorarium.
“It is the concern of the entire House that Anganwadi workers and helpers have not been paid their salary for the last six months. At a time when the prices of essential commodities are sky rocketing, it is very difficult for them to make their ends meet,” he said.
