Srinagar, Mar 11: The Special Investigation Team of police on Friday quizzed two Jammu based traders to probe their alleged role in the multi-crore rupees sugar scam.
Sources told Greater Kashmir that two Jammu based traders were questioned for five hours in police station Sadder by SIT this afternoon.
“We are investigating what was their role as their trucks were used by transporters for ferrying sugar from FCI Jammu to the Valley,” they said.
Meanwhile, police have also served to notice to the wife of one of the prime accused as she is partner in her husband’s company.
They further said that role of top officials of CAPD Srinagar whose names have cropped up during investigation is also being probed.
“During interrogation, accused have disclosed names of many persons. We would lay hands on them once we get enough evidence against them,” they said, adding that a supervisor of the department was also quizzed this week.
The CAPD first time admitted involvement of its officials in the scam.
“We are conducting an in-depth inquiry in the matter and whosoever is involved would be taken to task. Prima facie it seems that some of the officials of CAPD are involved in it,” Director CAPD, Abdul Waheed Tak, told Greater Kashmir.
