'Centre sanctions Rs 693 cr for Jmu, Sgr'
Jammu: The Centre has sanctioned Rs 693.91 crore for improvement of civil facilities and infrastructure in Jammu and Srinagar cities of the state, of which Rs 130.40 crore has already been spent, a minister said today. Replying to a question in the Assembly, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said money has been sanctioned by the Centre under Basic Services to Urban Poor (BSUP) and Urban Infrastructure and Government (UIG) programs. An amount of Rs 150.98 crore has been received from the Centre for improvement of infrastructure in the twin cities, the Deputy CM said, adding, of the amount, Rs 130.40 crore has been spent so far. Rs 120.40 crore and Rs 10 crore have been spent in UIG and BSUP programs respectively during the current financial year, he added.
