GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Mar 12: The Legal Metrology department inspected petrol pumps and fined five of them for violation of norms, officials said Saturday.
“Four of the pump dealers were found indulging in short delivery and were penalized for the same,” a department spokesman said adding some petrol pumps in Ganderbal were also inspected.
“It is the right of the consumer to check the delivery of petrol pump himself at the time of fuelling his vehicle and it is mandatory for the pump dealer to provide 5 litre conical test measure for the purpose,” the spokesman said.
“It is the duty of the pump dealer to check the delivery of petrol pump everyday before operating it for sale. In case the pump issues short or excess fuel, the delivery of pump is to be stopped at once and local Inspector of Legal Metrology is to be informed for rectification of the error.”
Meanwhile the department has requested the consumers to lodge complaints with the department on the Phone No 0194-2105756 in case some petrol pump dealer indulges in malpractice.
