Defunct drains cause dampness in Jildgar Mohalla houses
SYED IMRAN ALI HAMDANI
Srinagar, Mar 13: The residents of Jildgar Mohalla , Nowhatta in Shahr-e-Khaas said the colony drains have gone defunct for the past many years thereby causing dampness in the houses.
The residents of the congested area said despite repeated appeals to the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) officials nothing was done on the ground.
“If the dampness persists, our houses may collapse anytime,” said a local while pointing towards the dampness in his house.
The residents accused the ruling coalition of developing “particular areas of their vote bank pockets.”
When contacted the concerned Executive Engineer of SMC said the matter would be looked into on priority basis.
Meanwhile, the residents have appealed the Commissioner SMC Sheikh Mushtaq to get the drains repaired at an earliest.
