Timely action

This refers to the news “Breast cancer on rise in Valley.” It should be a matter of concern for one and all. It is time for the Health Department to launch a massive awareness campaign about the deadly disease. It is the responsibility of the state government to aware masses on how they stay away from such diseases. Timely detection of the disease and early treatment can prove helpful, but unfortunately our healthcare system is too weak to address the issue. The state government needs to set up a Cancer Hospital in Kashmir. Some years back, the Cancer Society of Kashmir had mooted a proposal to set up Cancer Hospital in the valley, but the then authorities in the Custodian Department spoiled the entire project.
