PDP slams budget figures in LC
‘Economic Survey full of discrepancies’
GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu, Mar 14: Leader of the PDP legislators in the legislative council Murtaza Khan today accused Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather of misleading the House by giving “wrong figures” in his budget proposals. Participating in debate on budget, Khan pointed “discrepancies” in the figures quoted in 2009-10 Economic Survey report. “The report is full of discrepancies. You have given wrong information to the House,” he told the Finance Minister.
Khan said giving wrong information in the LC “is a fit case for moving breach of privilege motion against the FM.”
He said the ES report states that Rs 88.22 crore has been spent on Budhser Hydro electric project till Nov 2010, “but the figure given in monitoring unit of Prime Minister was Rs 80.46 crore till February 23, 2011 on the same project.”
Terming the budget as “disappointing”, Khan said no proposal has been made for sub-regional and backward areas of the state. “The budget is directionless as it lacks any roadmap to solve the burning problems confronting the state.”
He said the budget has failed to give any roadmap to control the fiscal deficit. “During the debate on last budget PDP had suggested some measures to reduce financial dependence on the Centre but nothing has been done in this regard,” he said.
