‘1790 migrant candidates given jobs in Valley’

Jammu, Mar 15: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla Tuesday said the state government is working on a comprehensive return policy for Kashmiri Pandit migrants and 4440 families have already applied for going back to the Valley.
 Replying to the discussion on demand for grants of the departments under his charge in the legislative assembly, the Minister said to create confidence in the community for returning to Kashmir, the Government has advertised 3000 vacancies out of which selection was made on 1790. He said 1179 candidates have already joined their postings in the Valley.
 He said to accommodate the returnee migrants, transit accommodations have been set up at many places in the Valley, out of which allotment has been made in respect of 1277 families and 570 have even taken possession of the same. He said free transport service is being provided to the members of the community to visit the Valley at the times of festivals and holidays.
 He said the State Government has submitted a comprehensive one time settlement package to the Centre for funding. He thanked the Muslim neighbours for instilling confidence among their Pandit brethren for their return to valley.
 The Minister said 38119 families have been registered with the government as migrant comprising 1.42 lakh souls whileas 22,000 families stand unregistered and 20,871 families have been categorized as non-relief families. He said at present 5000 families are living in various camps which are being provided assistance by 32 field offices. He said 2112 flats at Jagti would be formally handed over to the genuine allottees after March 28. On refugees, the Minister said Government has submitted a proposal of Rs 1775 crore to the Centre for one time settlement in respect of refugees of 1947, 1965 and 1971 and West Pakistan and hoped that the proposal would be considered by the Centre. He said Rs 49 crore have been given as land deficiency compensation among members of the community.
 Bhalla said the Government has constituted a committee headed by Financial Commissioner Revenue to look into the issue of Dogra certificate and assured the House the matter would be resolved soon.
 Under Roshni scheme, Bhalla said 1,47,752 beneficiaries have been provided ownership rights adding that revenue department has realised Rs 72.90 crore through Roshni scheme.
