Police has procured non-lethal weapons to tackle protestors: DGP
Srinagar, Mar 18: Director General of Police, Kuldeep Khoda today said the J&K Police had procured non-lethal weapons and the policemen were being trained in all Police Training Institutions to use these in order to ensure least causalities while dealing with protestors.
“The force has exhibited professionalism and discipline not only in normalcy, but also in the disturbed times,” Khoda said while addressing the policemen at the Attestation cum passing Out Parade at Police Training School, Manigam, Ganderbal. He said the police had remained on forefront for the safety of people of the State.
He said the services rendered by the policemen in dealing with militants and anti-social elements in the State could not be forgotten.
He said 917 recruits had undergone rigorous basic training course here and also imparted training in the field of mob controlling, counter-intersurgency, assault obstacles, crime control and using least weapons during any trouble while controlling the violent mobs and maintaining the law order situations.
Earlier, Khoda took salute at the colorful Passing out Parade and inspected the march past of contingents of trainees. Khoda asked recruits to translate the pledge, they have taken today in letter and spirit while performing their duty.
He said comprehensive welfare programmes had been formulated for providing quality education to the wards of the personnel particularly the children of the those killed.
He said the services of 29 SPOs belong to various districts of Kashmir Zone had been converted and absorbed as Constables in the organization for their exemplary services while nine Constables had been given out of turn promotions for their dedication and bravery of saving precious lives during anti-militancy operations and ensure no collateral damage of the people.
On this occasion, Ct Qaisar Majeed No.347 was declared all round best trainee and was given one rank promotion as Sg Ct Jameel Mohammad No: 535 declared 2nd all round best trainee and was awarded DGP’s Special Commendation Certificate with cash reward of Rs10,000 and Ct Sheraz Ahmad No:1404 was declared 3rd in the all round best and awarded prize.
