Rs 387 cr approved to conserve Wullar lake: Altaf
Jammu, Mar 18: Minister for Forest and Environment Mian Altaf has said that a comprehensive management action plan of Rs 387crore approved by the Centre of which it has agreed to provide Rs 120 crore under 13th Finance Commission Award with an allocation of Rs 30 crore for the next current financial year for conservation of Asia's biggest Wullar Lake, adding in this regard a full-fledged Wullar Conservation and Management Authority (WCMA) is being constituted for its effective coordination, monitoring and implementation of the programme.
This was stated by Minister in reply to a question by Basharat Ahmad Bukhari in the Legislative Assembly here today.
He said in addition six wetlands Gharana Hygam, Mirgund, Shallabugh, Chushul and Hanely wetlands have been recently brought under National Wetland Conservation and Management Programme by the Centre.
