SKIMS college USG defunct
Srinagar: An ultrasonography machine is lying defunct in SKIMS medical college from the past many months putting the life of many patients at risk.
Sources in the hospital said the machine was lying in the causality and remained non functional despite several intimations by the staff. “Now there is only one ultra sound machine lying in out door patient department,” sources said. “So, all the critical cases like that of injured, pregnancy and others have to be shifted on stretcher to OPD for the test. There is only one corridor connecting OPD with causality that too is blocked.”
He said the patients were facing hardships while being taken to another building for the test.
Medical Superintendent, Dr Nazir Pandith said the machine was beyond repair. “We have brought engineers to fix it. But it’s beyond repair,” he said, adding, “We have passed an order to procure a new ultrasound. It’s expected to come soon.”
