Police seize brown sugar in Poonch

Poonch, Mar. 20: Police today claimed to have arrested four narcotic smugglers and recovered over two kilograms of brown sugar worth over 10 million rupees from them.
 Official sources said that based on a tip off, a special police team, headed by DySP Headquarter Javaid Iqbal, raided a place in Banote area of Poonch town on Sunday and arrested four persons.
 During the searches, police seized a narcotic consignment (brown sugar) weighing around 2.2 kilograms. The consignment, sources said, was recently brought into the town and police was following the case closely.
 Police identified the arrested smugglers as Muhammad Javaid, Ajeet Singh, Jaleel Ahmed, Rafeeq and Aijaz Ahmed, all residents of Poonch.
 Deputy Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations), Poonch, SH Javaid Iqbal, termed the arrests as a “big success.”
 “We had been working on it for a very long time, and today, on the occasion of Holi, the police were deployed at various check posts. They saw the movement of a group of men in a vehicle and stopped the car and seized this brown sugar,” he said.
