Stray dogs

I was pained to read the news “Stray dogs attack boy.” It made be realize how callous the state administration is with regard to the increasing menace of dogs. It seems the state government is scared of the so-called animal rights activists, who don’t love their own people. One hand it is bullets and pellets which are killing us and on the other, it is dogs. Don’t the people of Kashmir have a right to live? If anyone disturbs peace in Jammu and Kashmir, he is booked under the Public Safety Act? But I guess the so-called animal rights activists, who are disturbing peace of people and allowing them to die at the hands of dogs, should be booked in a similar manner. One can only imagine the pain that the young boy must have undergone after seeing a group of dogs chasing him. All he could do is jump into a river. This speaks volumes about the state of affairs we are encountering. The state is making tall promises of ensuring good governance, but sadly, the situation on ground is going from bad to worse. My sincere suggestion to the Srinagar Municipal Corporation is that they must start a war on dogs and start poisoning them, without creating a cry about it. This has been done in the past as well and quite effectively.
