'Hurriyat G office raided'
Srinagar, Mar 23: The Hurriyat Conference (G) on Wednesday alleged that the police raided the office of its chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani at Hyderpora here.
Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar said a large contingent of police surrounded the conglomerate’s office at 10.30 am today and conducted searches.
“The police team searched the office and questioned the office bearers. The police also did not allow anybody to leave or enter the building. An armored vehicle blocked the lane leading to the office. This is sheer harassment and we condemn it in unequivocal terms,” Akbar said.
Geelani was not present there at the time of the raid. He is in New Delhi to participate in the Pakistan Day celebrations in the Pakistan High Commission.
When contacted, the Duty Officer of Humhama Police Station, Imtiaz Ahmad, denied conducting raid on Hurriyat (G) office. “This is baseless,” he said.
