Cold stores, pre-cooling facilities being established under NHM: Sham
Jammu, Mar 26: Minister for Horticulture Sham Lal Sharma informed the House that under National Horticulture Mission (NHM) for Himlayan State, the Department is establishing form stores, pack houses with pre-cooling facilities, cold stores, processing units and provision of refrigerated vans to the interested unit holders to reduce heavy post harvest losses in the State. The Minister was replying to a question by Khalid Najeeb Suharwardy on behalf of Naresh Kumar Gupta in the Legislative Council today.
He said the Department is providing 50% subsidy to the unit holders as per the cost norms for different activities under the scheme.
The Minister said that Market- led extension service also being provided to the farmers, traders and growers through the AGMARKNET PORTAL and by holding exhibition, fairs, shows and conferences. He further said that the awareness are also being organised for the farmers where, among other things, they are imparted knowledge about preventing post harvest losses.
He said that the Department has also acquired a land for the establishment of fruit and eatable market at Batote and acquisition of land at Doda for the establishment of fruit and vegetable market is also under process. Javid Ahmed Rana, Subash Chander Gupta, Ajay Sadotra raised the supplementaries.
