JKLF(R) delegation meets AI member
Srinagar, Mar 26: A high level delegation of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (R) led by its chairman Farooq Ahmad Dar alias Bita Karatey on Saturday met the visiting Amnesty International team member Bikramjeet Batra and discussed with him ongoing human rights ‘violations’ arrests and harassment of pro-freedom political activists.
Beside Karatey, the delegation comprised senior vice-chairman Javid Ahmad Mir, vice-chairman Tahir Ahmad Mir, general secretary Wajahat Qureshi and district president for Srinagar Muhammad Rafiq Bhat.
The members thanked Amnesty International for highlighting in its report the human rights violations. They urged the Amnesty team to focus their attention on getting investigating the custodial killing cases, tracing of disappeared persons and release of detainees.
Meanwhile, JKLF ( R), at a meeting held here with its chairman Farooq Ahmad Dar in chair, finalized the programmes being organized by it on the martyrdom anniversaries of Ashfaq Majid Wani, Shabir Ahmad Sidiqui, Jalil Ahmad Andrabi and Dr Abdul Ahad Guroo.
It was decided that Quran Khawani and Fateh Khawani will be observed on March 27, 2011, at Front headquarters here and other district offices to mark the anniversary of Shaheed Jalil Ahmad Andrabi. “To mark the anniversary of Shaheed Ashfaq Majid and Shaheed Shabir Ahmad Sidiqui, floral tributes will be offered and special prayers held at Mazar-i-Shuhda, Eid Gah, Srinagar, at 11 a.m. A public meeting will also organized on the occasion. Quran Khawani and Fateh Khawani will be organized on April 1, to observe the anniversary of Dr Abdul Ahad Guroo,” said a spokesman of the Front in a statement today.
