NREGA workers without wages

Bandipora, Mar 26: Many families in various villages here are yet to receive the payment for their work under National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) even after passing of 15 months.
As per the scheme guidelines, it is mandatory that the payment to the labourers should be made every fortnight.
“The families belong to Panar, Athwatoo, Guzarbal and Bilal Colony area,” a labourer said, adding they had worked under a project managed by a government department and were yet to receive their daily wages.
Additional District Development Commissioner Bandipora, Ghulam Muhammad Barkaboo said “I have received several representations regarding the non-payment of wages. I will take up the matter with concerned authorities.”
