223 diagnostic centres, clinics registered: Javid
Jammu, Mar 28: Minister of State for Health and Medical Education Javid Ahmad Dar today said as many as 223 registered diagnostic centres, including X-Ray units, ultra-sonography units and laboratory clinics are operating in the state.
He told legislative council all establishments are regularly monitored by the designated authorities.
“At least five private nursing homes, which were found violating the norms, have been sealed / closed recently.”
He said that so far as the matter of generation of bio-medical waste in these diagnostic centres is concerned, it is one of the conditions in the norms that every diagnostic centre (clinical laboratory) should obtain permission from the J&K Pollution Control Board, if the number of the samples in the laboratory exceeds one thousand per month.
“So it is the prerogative of the State Pollution Control Board to have check on these clinics on the matter of generating bio-medical waste. “
