Remove poultry sector from negative list: KVPF
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Mar 2: The Valley Poultry Farmers today appealed the government to remove the poultry sector from the “negative list.”
President, Kashmir Valley Poultry Farmers’ Association, G M Bhat said instead of helping this sector which over the years has zoomed in scale and size, the government has put it in negative list.
He said because of this step, thousands of farmers have been rendered unable to get financial assistance from the Banks. “No bank is financing poultry farming, no government agency is registering them, no company is giving insurance and above all rates are being fixed by CAPD who do not know even basic of this sector,” he said.
“We fervently appeal chief minister, Finance Minister and minister for animal husbandry to keep provision in the forthcoming budget for development of poultry sector so that it may not be collapsed.”
“We also appeal to government to give industrial status to poultry sector, besides set up mandis in every district head quarters, take steps for setting of price committee of experts,” he said.
He said the government should not interface in rates as it is the supply and demand issue and in our suggestion the government should set up a committee of poultry farmers, experts from animal husbandry department and official from district administration who after thorough verification will decide rates, so that neither common people get cheated nor farmers suffer un-necessary losses.”
“We also appeal Director Animal Husbandry to put forth our demands before concerned quarters that positive result may come at an earliest,” he said.
