Contractors flay govt for diverting funds from Valley
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Mar 29: J&K Contractors’ Coordination Committee today came down heavily on the government for diverting funds meant for Kashmir to Jammu.
The Committee, at a meeting held here today with its chairman Ghulam Jeelani in chair, said the government “against all norms” diverted Rs 30 crore meant for developmental works in the Valley, to Jammu.
The meeting said contrary to the promises by the government about ensuring “equitable development” in the state, the Valley was being discriminated against.
“The diversion of funds speaks volumes about the discriminatory approach being deliberately adopted by authorities holding higher offices,” said a spokesman of the Committee in a statement today, adding that “on the one hand, the government is blowing the trumpet of taking steps to put an end to unemployment, on the other, some of its officers under a deep rooted conspiracy are rendering people jobless by diverting funds to Jammu from Valley.”
The Committee has urged the chief minister Omar Abdullah for intervention and investigation in the diversion of funds.
