CII hails Rangarajan report
‘It will bring new era of opportunities for youth’

Srinagar, Mar 3: The Confederation of Indian Industries (Kashmir chapter) has hailed the report submitted today to the government by the Prime Minister’s Expert Group on Jobs Plan headed by Dr. C. Rangarajan.
Welcoming the report which was presented to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today, Waseem Trumboo, chairman, CII Kashmir said it “will usher in the new era of opportunities to the Kashmiri youth”.
“The new focus on young people of the Valley is refreshing. Till now, all earlier reports and initiatives for the valley have mainly focused on incentives and investments. We are happy that this report focuses on the young people of the Valley,” he said in a statement.
He said: “I understand that the report outlines plans for training of youth in companies, for employment and self employment. We feel that this focus on human resource planning, on upgrading the quality of manpower will bring in a changed era.”
“We particularly welcome the Special Industry Initiative (SII) mentioned in the report which will lead to training and placement of around 40,000 youth over the next 5 years, in reputed companies like TCS, Infosys, Avantha Group, Godrej &Boyce, Tata Beverages, Tata Motors, JCB India, Bajaj Auto and Apollo Hospitals to name a few” added Waseem.
The key focus of the report is to create a conducive environment for job availability by increasing the employability of the youth in the state through skill development and training, he said.
Raju Chowdhary, chairman, CII J&K Council congratulated Dr Rangarajan for this new approach. “We are very happy that Dr Rangarajan laid a detailed report on skill development, special industry initiatives, scholarship scheme for Kashmiri youth as also focused on strategies for sectors which have the maximum employment potential in Kashmir namely Tourism, Agri & Horticulture, IT & ITES.”
He said CII has already started an Agri initiative called Agri Conclave in the state to reach out to farmers for exposure to better agri practices. “We are confident that a speedy implementation will transform Kashmir.”
