JK to host ATAOI conference in Sep

Srinagar, Mar 3: J&K will host the upcoming Adventure Tour Operators’ (ATAOI) Conference in September, besides the government will give special concessions to Delhi tour operators for putting up advertisements in national papers publicizing J&K.
This, according to a statement issued by J&K Tourism Alliance was revealed by minister for tourism, Rigzin Jora at a function organised by JKTA in New Delhi the other day.
MOS Tourism Nasir Aslam Wani was present on the occasion. The minister, according to the statement, hailed JKTA for promoting tourism for Kashmir at all forums, seminars within or outside state and raising issues with the PM’s Expert Group.
Earlier, Jyotsna Suri, CMD Bharat Hotels Ltd, gave a presentation on POLO in Drass. The second presentation was made by Farooq A. Shah, Director Tourism – Kashmir displaying all the three regions of J&K.
Dinesh Chaturvedi, Director General Tourism, government of India said the Incredible India Campaign highlights the tourist attractions of J&K.
He assured the state tourism ministry that all necessary promotional campaign and support for infrastructural development will be provided by the centre.
He also confirmed that in advertising campaign, the union tourism ministry shall share 33 per cent cost with the state tourism department and the tour operators of Delhi, for exclusively highlighting tourist attractions of J&K.
JKTA chairman, G M Dug while speaking on “J&K - Destination for all Seasons/Reasons” laid emphasis on improving air connectivity between Srinagar – Leh – Jammu, development of other tourist circuits in J&K, creating more avenues of employment, augmenting round the year domestic tourist traffic to J&K, etc.
Nasir Shah, Secretary General, JKTA, told Greater Kashmir that during the interaction with travel trade, the operators complained harassment by traffic police of tourist coaches right from Lakhanpur to Srinagar and other tourist destinations in Kashmir.
