Valley food processors welcome Rangarajan report

Srinagar, Mar 4: The Food Processing Association, a group of Valley-based food processors, has welcomed Dr Rangarajan report on job plan.
In a statement here today the association hailed the report particularly for its suggestion on skill development.
Shahjahan, president of the Association said: “We welcome the report and offer support of our organization for establishment of a training institute for skill development.”
He said though there are training institutes working under the aegis of SKUAST, Islamic University and JKEDI where subject of food processing are taught, yet the industry is not satisfied because of many gaps.
He said the skill development institute proposed by the scheme would go a long way in helping the aspirants to get training. He said aspirants need to be taught as per the local flora and fauna, fruits and vegetables.
