SSB mistake
This refers to the recently issued shortlists of Accounts Assistants for various districts by the Service Selection Board. It is astonishing to see that B.Ed. which is purely intended for teaching purposes has been considered as a bachelor's degree equivalent to other bachelor’s degrees. The motive of this move though can't be ascertained at present but it certainly is a laughable act. No doubt B.Ed. is a bachelors degree but one goes for it only after graduation and its duration is also less than the normal graduation. It takes 4-5 years to complete other professional degrees like B.Sc. Agriculture. If B.Ed. is just like any other graduate course then let the students opt for it after 10+2 stage. Are Accounts Assistants supposed to maintain the accounts books or teach their colleagues in the government offices? I wonder how they (SSRB) will proceed in case of teacher list. Now a great contradiction would emerge. If by above criteria B.Ed. is just like any other graduate course, then why give it a weightage of 15 points. Another issue - a candidate holding graduation and a B.Ed. degree, how to assign the weightage. Follow your rules and you will be opposing your own logic that you have applied in case of Accounts Assistants. This may ultimately culminate into what is known as round pegs in the square boxes. This is another facet of our homeland Kashmir- where you have to toil hard and maybe even move the courts to get your basic rights as a citizen of the state.
