Srinagar, Mar 8: Scores of woman and schoolgirls Tuesday morning participated in the marathon run on the Dal banks in connection with the International Women’s Day celebrations hosted by popular radio station 92.7 BIG FM.
Despite chill, scores of females and even some males poured on the Boulevard as they assembled outside the SKICC to participate in the run.
As the clock struck 8:00 AM, RJ Sara and RJ Nasir jointly flagged off the run which concluded at Nishat. The participants were offered refreshment.
But as some of them started throwing the trash on the picturesque place, it was time for women to teach something with RJ Saara and RJ Haya delivering a lecture on Think Green.
Finally, all the participants started a sanitation drive to collect the trash and carry it along to their respective homes.
“Do put them in dustbin only,” the RJs could be heard telling the school kids. Students from DPS, Presentation Convent, Kothi Bagh, Amira Kadal Girls Higher Secondary School, Greenland, Woodland and some other schools participated in the event.
Scores of 92.7 Big FM listeners were also present on the occasion. Pertinently, in connection with the International Women’s Day, the 92.7 BIG FM has been organizing a couple of events and the marathon was one of them.
“This event is part of the initiative titled She Lets celebrate Women Power where in we recognize and salute the contribution of Kashmiri women in our society,” said a spokesman of 92.7 Big FM. Greater Kashmir media partnered the event.
