HDC employees hail govt decision to revive corporation

Srinagar, Mar 8: The employees of J&K State Handloom Development Corporation (POSHISH) have hailed the government for its “decision to revive the working of the corporation.”
At a meeting with Abdul Ahad Lone, association’s senior vice president in chair, the employees discussed the budget proposals of 2011-12 presented in the assembly on Monday.
The employees in general and the association members in particular expressed gratitude to Chief Minister, Finance Minister and Minister for Industries & Commerce for “realizing the pivotal role of the corporation in wool and woollen based industry for economic uplift of downtrodden including handloom weavers scattered in remote and far-flung areas.”
“We hope the change in policy of government as envisaged in the budget speech shall alleviate the sufferings of employees and workers of HDC,” the meeting said.
The employees appreciated J A Khan, economic advisor to J&K government, for his “keen interest to make revival of HDC possible on merits.”
“The association admires the role and support of the commissioner/secretary, finance department, and commissioner/secretary industries and commerce for revival of the corporation.”
The employees also commended the “efforts of Showkat Ali, MD of the corporation “for his relentless efforts to emphasize the significance of HDC, being largest consumer of local wools used in blending of tweeds, blankets, shawls, etc with scope for value addition having tremendous potential for employment generation.”
The employees said under his “leadership the corporation has made advances in every field of production, sales, infrastructure development, reviving the weaving activities, etc.” The association assured the authorities of complete support and cooperation to achieve the cherished goals of productivity.
