Dr Rubeena assumes charge
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Mar 8: Call it coincidence or official orders, but Srinagar Municipal Corporation got its first woman Health Officer on Tuesday with Dr Rubeena Shaheen assuming the charge exactly when the International Day for Women was being celebrated across the globe.
Dr Shaheen said she would leave no stone unturned to make Srinagar an attractive City. “Sanitation and related issues are among my top priorities,” she told Greater Kashmir.
Rubeena, MBBS from Government Medical College Srinagar in 1993, did her MD in Microbiology from SKIMS and thereafter did her Masters in Public Health ( MPH) 2008 from JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY BALTIMORE, USA . Prior to the SMC post she worked as State Surveillance Officer, for Integrated Disease Surveillance Project ( IDSP ) funded by World Bank.
Meanwhile, the municipal employees while welcoming the new official said they would extend all possible support in her endeavors.
Pertinently, her predecessor, Dr Reyaz Ahmed was transferred over alleged controversy when his team raided a leading City hotel irking its owners who reportedly knocked the corridors of power. The inspection team had allegedly confiscated some edibles misfit for human consumption from the hotel.
While the HO was transferred, his junior was reportedly suspended over the controversy.
