DM concerned at Aasiya’s falling health
Srinagar: Dukhtaran-e-Millat acting chairperson Rifa’at Fatima has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating health of party’s incarcerated chairperson Syeda Aasiya Andrabi in jail.
“Despite court orders for her shifting to either Jammu medical college or any other hospital for specialized treatment, Aasiya continues to be in the jail as result of which her health has deteriorated further to an alarming extent,” said Rifa’at in a statement on Saturday.
“Aasiya could be provided better treatment in Srinagar but the government does not shift her to Central Jail Srinagar on the pretext that it is overcrowded with prisoners though the fact remains that Women’s Jail in Srinagar has no space problem.”
Rifa’at has appealed to the human rights organizations for intervention to ensure that Aasiya is provided better medical treatment. She alleged that the prosecutor did not present himself in the court on Aasiya’s hearing to prolong her case.
