Farooq pats Govt for Panchayat polls

Shopian, Apr 30: The National Conference President and Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Dr Farooq Abdullah on Saturday described Panchayat elections in the state a major success of the coalition government.
 Dr Abdullah while addressing party workers at circuit house here in south Kashmir said, “I congratulate people for participating in the elections in large numbers. People should exhibit similar enthusiasm in remaining phases too so that democracy is strengthened at grassroots level in the state.”
 Referring to 2010 agitation, he said the unrest caused major loss to the state as Rs 6000 crore received for developmental activities could not be utilized during the turmoil.
