Sangarmaal gets Food Court

SDA committed to make it fully operational: VC

SYED IMRAN ALI HAMDANI

Srinagar, Apr 30: In keeping with the commitment of giving fresh life to Sangarmaal, the Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) on Saturday got a restaurant –Royal  Sizzlers –inaugurated at the shopping plaza in presence of senior officials.
Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon did the honors while the SDA Vice-Chairperson Dilshad Khan, DDC Srinagar Meraj Ahmed Kakroo and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
Later the officials inspected various sections of the state of the art shopping complex while the SDA VC apprized them about various facets of the plaza.
Dilshad said the organization was trying its best to make the mall fully operational in the coming weeks.
Pertinently, Sangarmaal was inaugurated by the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah on June 5 last year. However, it could not be made operational because of the summer unrest that followed its inauguration.
During its inauguration, Omar had described Sangarmaal as “the most beautiful mall in the summer capital” and asked the aspiring builders to take some lesson from its design as most of the malls in Srinagar, he said, were “very ugly”.
Designed and developed by SDA with the idea of “Shopping-in-Leisure”, Sangarmaal shopping plaza, besides having lush green patches, has sufficient space for restaurants, food courts, kiosks, water bodies, fountains, children’s play area, retail outlets, craft bazaar, amphitheatre and office spaces.
