Construction of drain causes inconvenience
Srinagar, May 9: The Bemina Coordination Committee has appealed the local MLA and Chief Engineer UEED for investigation into the recently constructed drain at Alamdar Colony—Sir Syed Abad, Bemina, by the S&D, division –II, Srinagar.
The secretary Bemina Coordination Committee Muhammad Ashraf Mir, in a statement, alleged that instead of serving any purpose, the construction of this drain has subjected the residents of the both Sir Syed Abad and Alamdar Colony, Bemina, to severe inconveniences. “The drain has been constructed without proper levelling and material used in it is sub-standard. No bedding has been laid in the drain,” he said.
“Besides, the scores of tipper loads of mud dug out, while constructing the drain, were heaped in the greenbelt near an interior road at Alamdar Colony, Bemina, which caused inconvenience to residents living nearby. The residents were assured by the authorities S&D, division II, including the then executive engineer that the all the mounds of mud heaped in the greenbelt would be either removed or levelled.
