CAPD for ensuring home delivery of gas cylinders

Holds meet with oil cos, dealers, consumers

MANZOOR-UL-HASSAN

Srinagar, May 10: In the face of mounting complaints against alleged illegal sale of gas cylinders at high prices, the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department (CAPD) today held a meeting with oil companies, gas dealers and consumers.
The meeting stressed the need for implementation of easy home delivery of gas to improve the distribution system.
“The easy home delivery will decrease the unauthorized use of gas cylinders to large extent”, said Director CAPD Abdul Wahid Tak.
The Assistant Directors of CAPD posted at across length and breadth of Kashmir Valley, presented their report about the supply and distribution in their areas of operation.
They said the districts were facing problem due to violation of the roster or schedule for the distribution of gas. “The consumers in the districts don’t get the required supply in time as the dealers don’t follow the CAPD guidelines,” said Assistant Director Pulwama.
The supply of the domestic cylinders, the representatives said, is affected due to the commercial use of the cylinders meant for household purposes.
The representatives of the oil companies stressed the need for creating awareness among the consumers. They requested the department to spread information through print and electronic media about consumer rights.
Director CAPD emphasized the need for efficient monitoring of the distribution to the consumer.
“There is need of coordination between dealers and our department to stop the road side illegal points”, he said.
