CM approves 100 mobile schools for Gujjars, Bakerwals
Srinagar, May 10: Stating that the Government is committed to universalize elementary education in the State, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Tuesday, approved 100 Mobile Schools for Gujjars and Bakerwals to enable the children of migratory population receive education properly.
The CM also directed to formulate a comprehensive proposal for Mobile Medical Centres (MMCs) for these communities to ensure their health cover during migration from one place to another. He asked the Health Department to move forward in this direction early and work out a befitting strategy in this regard.
The CM was chairing a high level meeting to discuss the issues relating to the revival of Mobile Schools and MMCs for Gujjar and Bakerwal population. The scheme was started by Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah during his tenure as CM, however it received a setback during past two decades.
