Govt to empower Panchayats: G H Mir
Srinagar, May 10: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir on Tuesday said that Government intended to empower Panchayats so that governance would reach lower levels.
Minister while speaking at a felicitation function of recently elected Sarpanchs and panches of Kunzar Block at Tangmarg in north Kashmir said setting up of panchayats would bridge the gap between government and masses and would help to strength democracy at grass root level. “Steps are being taken by the government to delegate powers at every level before the completion of the panchyats elections to institutionalize the system,” he added.
“To realize the dream of making JK as a model state the panchayats will play an important role in this direction,” the Minister said.
“When the democracy is nourished at lower level, it will definitely have positive impact on every sector for the growth of the state,” Mir said.
