MLA seeks Dal conservation

Says drainage work will be completed soon

Srinagar, May 10: The National Conference MLA Shamima Firdous on Monday urged the people of Kohna Khun to play their role in the protection of Dal Lake.
 In a statement, a spokesman of the Human Rights Association, Foreshore Kohna Khun, said the MLA along with the VC LAWDA visited the new road Kohna Khun site and gave a patient hearing to the residents’ grievances.
 The MLA, according to HRA statement, assured that drainage and sewerage system would be taken in hand shortly and completed within a period of two months. “Footpaths would be raised and greenery maintained on either side of the road for the beautification of area. Widening of RCC Bridge is necessary in view of tourist flow in the area,” she said, urging the people of the area help the authorities concerned in the removal of encroachment in the area.
