Tributes paid to Akhter, Pompur

Srinagar, May 10: Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today paid glowing tributes to noted poet and critic Syed Rusul Pompur and folk singer, Naseem Akhter.In a condolence meeting attended by Academy secretary, Zafar Iqbal Manhas, director general accounts and treasuries, Wali Muhammad Aseer, Director Libraries, Khalid Bashir Ahmad and others, the participants said, given the standing of Akhter and Pompur in the field of music and literature, the Academy should try to highlight their contribution in whatever way it could.
As a mark of respect to the departed souls, two minute silence was observed.
