Srinagar, May 11: Minister for Forest and Environment Mian Altaf Ahmad on Wednesday called upon the philanthropists to contribute towards the upliftment of “down trodden sections of the society” during a function hosted by Kashmir University.
 Speaking at a function at Madar-i-Meharban Women and Child Welfare Institute, Miskeen Bagh, Srinagar, organized in connection with providing donation to the under privileged women’s orphans and widows, the Minister said that serving the poor and needy is the “real form of worship”.
 The function was organized by University of Kashmir, Directorate of Life Long Learning (DLL). The Minister on the occasion distributed donations among the beneficiaries.
 The function was attended by Vice Chancellor, Kashmir University, Prof.
 Reyaz Punjabi, Prof Dr Neelofar Khan, Director DLL, Chairman, Madar-i-Meharban Women and Child Welfare Institute, Miskeen Bagh, Srinagar, Prof Suriya Mattoo, President Private B d College Association Prof. CLVishnu, Director Social Welfare, Kashmir,  Hilal Ahmad Parray, Mumtaz-ul-Nissa Soz and Dr Girja Dhar.
 Speaking on the occasion the Vice Chancellor, Kashmir University said that the “technical training to down trodden people of the society in the rural areas would also be started in coming days through DLL.”
  He said the technically guidance to the people in neglected areas will help them to be “economically independent and will improve their life standard”.
