2 women among 5 non-local pickpockets held in Tral: Police

‘MONEY, CELL PHONE RECOVERED’

Srinagar, May 13: Police has busted a non-local gang of pickpockets active in Tral arresting five persons including two women from the main market on Friday.
 According to police spokesman, the accused were robbing people by cutting their pockets with sharp razors. A mobile phone, Rs 14,700 and three shaving blades were recovered from their possession, the spokesman said.
 The arrested, who, belong to Sharanpur Uttar Pradesh have been identified as: Liyaqat Sheikh son of Gulab Sheikh, Fayaz Sheikh son of Rashid Sheikh, Javid Sheikh son of Ashraf Sheikh, Mehbooba wife of Liyaqat Sheikh and Shahzadi wife of Imtiyaz Sheikh.
 “After the pickpockets were arrested, people started flocking towards the Police Station claiming that their pockets were cut open and they have been robbed,” he said adding the gang had robbed huge amount from Jamal Bhat son of Ghulam Nabi of Dadsara and Ghulam Nabi Kumar son of Ghulam Muhammad Kumar of Nai Basti Tral.
