Collective fight
This refers to the news regarding closing down of illegally running USG clinics in the Valley. It is a good move taken by the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir. The office must not succumb to any pressure and continue to address the issue of declining sex ratio in Jammu and Kashmir. It should be mandatory for the USG clinics to follow the rules and regulations laid down by the Health Department. The decline in the sex ratio is a major concern and the authorities cannot remain silent over it. However, the issue has to be resolved at a collective level. The entire civil society has to wake up to the issue and ensure that no daughter gets killed in the womb of a mother. I am happy to see young women in Kashmir writing about the issue and being so concerned about it. It shows that the conscience of the Kashmir society is alive and there are saner voices to raise voice over this sensitive issue. Media can play an important role by disseminating information on the importance of a girl child in the light of Islam and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Let gender discrimination end once for all. Therein likes our success and progress.
