BJP threatens stir if interlocutors submit 'Kashmir-centric' proposals

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

Jammu, May 14: The BJP today threatened to launch a countrywide stir if Centre-appointed interlocutors on JK made proposals, that it said were Kashmir-centric or would weaken the links between the state and the rest of the country.
"We will launch a mass movement across the country to expose this conspiracy and to oppose any such proposal which is Kashmir-centric or ignores the interests of Jammu and Ladakh or which tends to weaken the state’s relationship with the rest of India either physically or psychologically", the BJP Chief Spokesperson and National Executive Member Dr Jitendra Singh told reporters here.
He demanded the Interlocutors' report be made public and left open to a wider debate before the Congress-led UPA government decides to implement it.
Dr Singh expressed serious objection to the reported contents including change of nomenclature to Sadr-e-Riyasat and Prime Minister in the final part of Interlocutors' report ready for submission to Union Home Ministry.
The BJP leader also alleged the Interlocutors had followed a biased approach right from the beginning and their report failed in its avowed objective of projecting an objective view of every section of polity as well as civil society.
Substantiating his charge, he said that during each of their visits to the state, they had deliberately avoided establishing contact with the BJP leadership.
