Minor among 2 drown in Valley

Srinagar/Jammu, May 15: Two persons, including a minor girl drowned in separate incidents in South Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag) and Central Kashmir’s Budgam districts of valley on Sunday, police said.
 Mahroon Jan of Dadwangan, drowned in Sandran stream near her village in Dooru Islamabad (Anantnag), police said adding Jan was washing her hands when she slipped, resulting in her death. Jan’s body was fished out and later handed over to her family for last rites, police added.
 In another incident, the body of a woman, identified as Fata begum, was fished out from Dood Ganga stream near Madbal, in Budgam district, police said.
 Prima facie it seems that Fata Begum had drowned in the stream but further details are awaited, they said.
 Meanwhile, police recovered body of Shamim Ahmad Tantray from Shalanad-Gurinad in Dooru area of Islamabad (Anantnag) district.
 Tantray, a resident of Watnar-Kokernag, was found dead in suspicious circumstances, police said, adding inquest proceedings had been initiated to ascertain the cause of his death.

2 KILLED, 8 HURT IN JK MISHAPS
 Two persons including a child and a Border Security Force man were killed and eight other wounded in separate road accidents across the Jammu and Kashmir.
 A tipper (JK03B-4611) hit and killed a child, Rabi-ul-Alam son of Sehar Bhat of Gowhatti Assam on KP Road at Batpora Islamabad (Anantnag), police said adding the body of the deceased was handed over to family for last rites.      
 A load carrier (JK09-5034) collided with a pole of Tool Post of Town area Committee Handwara at Braripora crossing Handwara injuring Muhammad Khaliq Halwai son of Muhammad Quisar of Bijnore UP, police said.
 A tipper (JK07-1906) on way from Kargil to Srinagar turned turtle at Ranga Mode Kangan, Ganderbal causing injuries to three persons traveling in the vehicle, police said adding the tri had been hospitalized.
 A vehicle (AP09BZ-3789) hit and injured a pedestrian, Aron Nisar son of Nisar Ahmad Saka of Jaibal at Jaibal Ashmuqam, Islamabad (Anantnag), police said, adding the wounded had been shifted to SKIMS Soura.
 A sumo (JK03A-9377) collided with a motorcycle (JK03-7032) near Naibasti Quimoh Kulgam injuring a pedestrian Lali Jan daughter of Muhammad Amin Bhat of Naibasti Quimoh, police added.   
 Meanwhile, a BSF man was killed and two others injured when a truck, they were travelling in hit a rock on the Jammu-Poonch highway in Rajouri district on Saturday night, PTI said while quoting police.
 The incident took place when the BSF truck carrying ration supply, hit the rock after the driver lost control over the vehicle at Kalidhar,
 BSF head constable, S P Yadav was killed and two others including constable, Amit Singh and driver Anil Kumar were injured, police said, adding the wounded were hospitalized.

BODY RECOVERED AFTER 3 MONTHS
 Police has recovered a body in the Barinar Utrasoo forest at Achabal Islamabad (Anantnag), three months after the person went missing following an avalanche in the area.
 According to police, Javaid Ahmad Koka son of Abdul Gani of Thernaram Utrasoo was buried the snow avalanche on February 8. The body of Javaid was today handed over to family for last rites, police added.
