82% voting in Phase-9
Srinagar, May 16: The 9th phase of Panchayat elections concluded peacefully with large number of people participating in electing 253 Sarpanchs and 1790 Panchs in nine CD blocks of the state.
The election was held in 16 Sarpanch constituencies and 126 Panch constituencies in CD block Tangdhar of district Kupwara, 27 Sarpanch constituencies and 216 Panch constituencies in CD block Singhpora of district Baramulla, 16 Sarpanch constituencies and 131 Panch constituencies in CD Block Sumbal of district Bandipora, 10 Sarpanch constituencies and 79 Panch constituencies in CD Block Srinagar of district Srinagar, 43 Sarpanch constituencies and 282 Panch constituencies in CD Block Khoveripora of district Islamabad (Anantnag), 32 Sarpanch constituencies and 200 Panch constituencies in CD Block Kishtwar of district Kishtwar, 45 Sarpanch constituencies and 300 Panch constituencies in CD Block Ramban of district Ramban, 39 Sarpanch constituencies and 250 Panch constituencies in CD Block Kathua of district Kathua and 25 Sarpanch constituencies and 206 Panch constituencies in CD Block Marh of district Jammu.
The poll percentage remained 87 % in Tangdhar, 84 % in Singhpora, 91.38 % in Sumbal, 63.45 % in Srinagar, 73 % in Khoveripora, 81 % in Kishtwar, 82.87 % in Ramban, 85.59 in Kathua and 86.50 % in Marh with an overall percentage of 82.13 in all these blocks.
