City colonies face water shortage

Srinagar, May 16: The Srinagarites have complained of potable water shortage following the rise in mercury for the past few days.
The inhabitants who called Greater Kashmir said that the water shortage has led to crisis like situation in the areas like Sheikh Ul Aalam Colony, Pir Bagh and Shah Vilayat Colony.
“We are facing water shortage for the past six to seven days,” said a delegation from Shah Vilayat Colony near Hokersar on the City outskirts.
Similar complaints poured in from Pir Bagh and Sheikh ul Aalam colony Nowgam. The residents said the taps were running dry for the past four days.
When contacted the Chief Engineer Public Health Engineering department said a team has been pressed into service to look into it.
“We have deployed the staff to see the fault. The problem will be mitigated soon,” he said.
