2-day program on medicinal plants held

Jammu, May 17: The Department of Horticulture, Jammu, organized a two-day training-cum-interaction programme on cultivation and maintenance of medicinal plants particularly Gloriosa Superba (Kalihari) at Jammu. Director Horticulture Jammu, J L Sharma chaired the programme. Senior Scientists and head, Biotechnology and Toxicology Division of Environment Protection Training and Research Institute (EPTRI) Hyderabad (AP), Dr Siva Kumar Swaminathan, was the resource person in the programme.
The progressive farmers including, President of Jammu Kashmir Agri Entrepreneurship Development Association, Kulbushan Khajuria and its members, the Horticulture and Floriculture Officers from the Sub-Tropical Districts of Jammu Division participated in the programme who were made aware about the latest scientific techniques being developed for the cultivation and maintenance of Medicinal Plants especially Kalihari by the Resource Person.
