Reasi, May 17: The Director General of Police, (DGP) Kuldeep Khoda on Tuesday lauded the role of Udhampur-Reasi Police Range for Crime detection in the area. He said that conviction rate achieved by the Police has been highest in the country.
The DGP while speaking at the Police Durbar held at District Police Lines here said that the primary role of Police was to curb the activities of criminals and bring them to justice.
He said the district police besides other professional duties have brought laurels to the organization for bringing the criminals to justice after pursuing their cases to their logical end. He asked the policemen and officers to remain vigilant and ensure safety of the people from the activities of these criminals.
“To achieve desired results, public cooperation is mandatory and the police have taken all along the people while dealing the criminals,” he added.
Khoda appreciated the jawans and officers for their role in fighting the militancy and avoiding the loss to the lives and property of the people.
He said that Jammu and Kashmir Police would continue its efforts to eradicate the menace of militancy and bring lasting peace in every corner of the State.
On this occasion, Khoda distributed cash rewards among the jawans who had exhibited exemplary morale and done “commendable job while taking part in the anti-militancy operations” and assured the safety of human lives and public property in their jurisdictions.
Later, the DGP chaired a high level meeting of police officers and took stock of security, law and order situation in the border range. He said the Jammu and Kashmir Police in coordination with other securities agencies have to remain vigilant to foil designs of militants and their mentors.
During the meeting, traffic arrangements and the measures for crime control also came under discussion. The DGP asked the officers present in the meeting to ensure that traffic rules and regulations are strictly adhered to avoid vehicular accidents. He said that violators should be booked so that human lives are not put to risk. He stressed for priority to the matters having public importance. He also visited Uniform Force Headquarters Reasi and had a meeting with the officers and discussed coordinated efforts for eradication of militancy in the Pir- Panjal area.
Among others the Durbar/meeting was attended by Inspector General of Police Jammu Zone Dilbagh Singh, DIG Udhampur- Reasi Range, Jagdish Kumar SSP Udhampur, Surinder Gupta, SSP Reasi, Keshav Ram Chorasia, Commandant 12th Bn JKAP, Manmohan Singh, Addl SP Katra, Anita Sharma and other Police Officers of the range.
