Khour Pattan residents pin hope on CM

DETENTION OF YOUTH

WASIM KHALID

Srinagar, May 17: After the police failed to address the complaints of residents under the banner of Coordination Committee of Khour Sherabad village in Pattan tehsil of Baramulla district, the committee has pinned hope on the chief minister Omar Abdullah to intervene for the redressal of their grievances.
On May 15, the committee while contradicting the Baramulla police claims that module of Hizbul Mujahideen was busted after detaining five youth from the Pattan area, had said that all of the five were innocent and alleged that the cases were being “framed” against them.
“After police officials failed to address our grievances, we now appeal the chief minister Omar Abdullah to intervene and probe the incident,” said Patron of coordination committee Muhammad Ramzan Pandit.
“If they are militants, let the Chief minister give them strict punishment. We have lost faith in police as an investigating agency. They only know how to fabricate cases against the innocent people”.
The coordination committee made this appeal after they held an emergency meeting to chalk out the future course of programme.
Pandit said the residents of the Khour Sherabad village apprehend that more youth would be booked under PSA under ‘frivolous charges’.
Police on May 10 had claimed to have busted a module of militant outfit by arresting five cadres of the outfit in Pattan. Addressing the reporters, DIG North Kashmir Range, Munir Khan had said that Police and 2RR in a joint operation arrested five militants of a outfit and recovered large cache of arms and ammunition from their possession.
